Well, anyone who knows me knows I am a part of the Upward Bound program sponsored by Clarion University and I have been here since June 21, and if you didn't you do now. I leave Saturday to return home after a interesting summer. I got the chance to come to Clarion University Campus in PA for Upward Bound. What is Upward Bound? It is a program that helps high school students aspiring to get into college do so. You get a stipend of $30 each month and a stipend of $20 a week for being in the 6 week summer program. It is a wonderful opportunity that I chose to take advantage of. Anyway, coming here for practically the whole summer gave me a chance to be free from my parents and dive in headfirst to the college life experience. We stay in a dorm hall, take classes, and of course there are various activities to keep us entertained. We eat at the dining hall at least 4 times a week and sometimes get to mingle with college students here at Clarion. To me, this was the most freedom I've had in a long time. It gave me a chance to live on my own and depend on solely myself, just like if I was in college. While I am only a junior in high school I hear I have a bright future ahead of me, so why not take advantage of every step I can to get to it? Though there are always the ups and downs, the stumbling blocks, and the near breakdowns, it gives you a chance to experience life after high school days. I have to say this is probably one of the best things that has ever happened to me (aside going to District Choir last year). It has made me a stronger, more mature, goal-oriented person. Though there is always fear that I may lose this newly kindling flame of a person inside me, I will do what I can to make sure that does not happen.

This is BreakFree, signing off (for now)..
